Privacy

We collect no data.

Not “minimal”. None. Billfold has no accounts, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking. There is no server that could hold your invoices, because we never built one.

Lives on your Mac

Every invoice, client and business profile is stored on your device. Turn off iCloud for Billfold and nothing ever leaves it.

Syncs through your iCloud

Between your devices, Billfold uses your own private iCloud database. It's protected by your Apple Account and invisible to us.

Nothing reaches us

No usage analytics, no crash SDKs, no third-party code. Purchases are handled by Apple; we never see payment details.

What Billfold collects

Nothing. Billfold has no accounts, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking. The developer does not receive, store or see your invoices, clients, business details or usage.

Where your data lives

Everything you enter is stored on your device. If you are signed in to iCloud, Billfold syncs your data between your devices through your own private iCloud database (Apple's CloudKit). That data is protected by your Apple Account, is not accessible to the developer, and is covered by Apple's privacy policy. Turning off iCloud for Billfold in System Settings keeps everything on the device only.

Documents you export or share

PDFs, CSV files and anything you share from Billfold go only where you send them: Mail, Messages, Files, AirDrop, a printer, your accountant. Billfold does not keep copies anywhere else.

Payment links and QR codes

If you add a payment link to an invoice, Billfold prints that link and a QR code for it on the PDF. Billfold does not contact the payment provider and does not process payments.

Purchases

Billfold Pro is a one-time purchase handled entirely by Apple through the App Store. Apple processes the payment; the developer receives no payment details. Purchase status is checked with the App Store so Pro unlocks on all your devices.

Diagnostics

If you have chosen to share diagnostics with app developers in your Apple device settings, Apple may forward anonymised crash reports. These contain no invoice or client data.

Children

Billfold is a business tool and is not directed at children under 13.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version will be posted at this address with a new effective date. Because Billfold collects nothing, changes are expected to be rare.

This website

This page is a static site with no analytics or cookies. To show Billfold Pro's price in your currency, the page asks our host which country your connection comes from; the answer is used once and not stored. Our host may keep standard, short-lived server logs to run the service.

Is Billfold a free invoicing app?

Yes for your first three clients, with every feature included. Billfold Pro is a one-time purchase that unlocks unlimited clients, removes the small footer line from PDFs and adds custom accent colours. There is no subscription.

Can I add my own logo and colours to invoices?

Yes. Add a PNG, JPEG or SVG logo and choose an accent colour per business. The PDF uses them on every invoice, quote and tax invoice you send.

Does Billfold handle tax on invoices?

Yes. Set a tax label and rate per business (added on top or included in prices) and Billfold works out the tax and totals on every invoice. Currency and tax defaults follow your Mac's region.

Is there an iPhone or iPad version?

Billfold is built for the Mac first. iPhone and iPad versions share the same code and iCloud sync and will follow the Mac release.

Does Billfold work offline?

Yes. Everything works without a connection. If you're signed in to iCloud, changes sync the next time you're online.

How do I restore Billfold Pro on another Mac?

Sign in with the same Apple Account, then open Settings → Billfold Pro → Restore Purchases. Pro is a one-time purchase and unlocks on every Mac you own.

Where are my invoices stored?

On your Mac, and in your private iCloud database if iCloud is on for Billfold. Nothing is stored with us.

Can I run more than one business?

Yes. Each business has its own logo, colour, numbering, tax and payment details, and you can move an invoice between them.

Which accounting packages does the export suit?

The CSV export matches the sales-invoice import templates for Xero and QuickBooks Online, and there's a plain spreadsheet option for everyone else.
